Mobile Computing Introduction
With our streamlined approach we can deploy mobile computing technology
as part of our software products or integrate it with your current information
systems. This gives a cost-effective approach to new technology as your
business expands.
Mobile computing allows data to be captured and exchanged in two distinct
methods:
- In a real-time manner where the device interacts with your enterprise
systems over a wireless network
- In a disconnected manner where data is synchronized remotely to and
from your internal system
An application can use either or a combination of these methods - according
to your specific business requirements.
Typical mobile applications that we have implemented include:
- Warehouse management – including goods receipt, goods manifest,
POD and stock management.
- On site inspections – production of reports (for example ROTE)
on client equipment and publishing of the data to WWW.
- Workshop Support – management of workshop processes, QA, traceability
and real time updates to sales staff on work in progress.
Types of devices vary considerably dependant on use - and examples include
rugged handheld computers are suitable for workshop and industrial applications
where they need to stand up to harsh conditions and Enterprise Digital
Assistants (EDA’S) which are robust handheld devices suitable for
inventory, warehouse management, bar-coding and other data capture solutions.
With the Motion mobile computing offering our mobile computers (we have
working partnerships with Psion, Intermec and Symbol), together with our
bar code scanners, RFID solutions, wireless infrastructure provide the
foundation you need to become an organization on the move.
