Business Requirements:

• A system to manage receipt, storage and onward shipping of client freight.
• Provide a faster and more efficient way of recording when freight is received and leaves the warehouse.
• A system that provides visibility on client stock levels over multiple stores.
• Ensure that all associated additional costs for services are captured and recharged to the client.

Solution:

• A desktop application to record all data relating to clients, client sites/vessels, freight types.
• Use of handheld barcode scanners and barcode labels that can be quickly and easily attached to all freight as it is received to streamline receipt, movement and delivery processes.
• System alerts to ensure that all necessary documentation has been received and access to daily stock reports on request.
• An integrated web portal provides clients with a real time view of their freight status.

Technical Details:

• Developed using the .NET Framework and Compact Framework using the C# programming language
• Supports all versions of SQL Server and SQL Express 2005+
• Utilises web services for communication between distributed areas of the system
